O the joys of boys....
I must say when I was pregnant with Jakey I knew that him and Jojo were going to be vastly different. Not only because she's a girl and he's a boy. I knew the birth order would play into it as well. Plus they are just too completely different people, so I knew that since Jojo was so easy going, Jakey would be the complete opposite.
When Jakey was born, he was clingy. He cried a lot more than Jojo. He only wanted me. As he grew older, he got less clingy, obviously didn't cry as much, but still only wanted me. The terrible two's didn't really hit with either kids, but there were times when I just didn't know how to discipline him or how to pacify the issue. He's known to make the worlds biggest mess, but then promptly clean it up. The noise this boy can make is off the charts. So many differences between my two.
Fast forward to this summer. I'm doing my usual cleaning in the basement (the kids area) and I find marker marks on the couch, on the linoleum floor, and on the back of a cheap end table. After grilling both kids (I didn't really think it was Jojo, but I had to ask), I get a tearful apology from Jakey. He couldn't tell me a reason he did it, so his punishment was no more coloring downstairs.
This week being a holiday week, the kids were off of school for 5 days. I'm usually up before the kids, but I decided it was my holiday week too, so I slept in later than normal. Jakey got up before me and took it upon himself to make himself a bowl of cereal. He's usually my clean freak, but when I got up shortly after, his bowl was on the table still. I picked it up and see JOJO and a star carved into my dining room table! I was FUMING!!! He told me he did it so that Jojo would get in trouble. I just don't understand what runs through his mind. Why he thinks that it's okay to destroy someone elses' belongings is beyond me. I really wanted to go into his room and destroy something of his to show him how wrong it is, but that really wouldn't prove my point. So he was told that on the rare occasions he does get up before me, he's allowed to go to the bathroom and then he must stay in his room.
He's gotten talked to by some of my friends and family and I think he realizes now that it's something that cannot happen again. O the joys of boys!!!

I bet you were livid! Someday I'm sure you'll laugh about it though. ;)
