Loving life...
It's always hard to get back into the daily routine after a gloriously, long weekend. Our weekend was full of lots of family, friends, food, laughs, and down time. Exactly what the doctor ordered!
I had the day off from watching Brady today and used that time to get a few more gifts bought, Santa presents wrapped, and the rest of the pile wrapped too. Presents are situated nicely under the tree, lots of lovely Christmas colored paper twinkling along with the lights. I cleaned like a mad woman because it was quiet and no one was around to mess up what I had cleaned. I actually had a few minutes before the kids got home to sit back and admire the hard work.
I decided to let them do homework while I made dinner (instead of right after school) so that we could head to a local craft store and pick out some fun, Christmas ceramics. It was fun to see their little creative minds whirling about how they would paint this, maybe put glitter on that, what colors they wanted to use on each piece. We made it home, I started cooking dinner, and they started with homework. Even Jakey (who is my v.e.r.y slow eater) demolished his homemade mac and cheese, so that we could start our crafts.
Jakey is a lot like me...a perfectionist. Jojo is very into art and loves to mix match things, and she isn't afraid of very bold colors. To see them both dive right into the craft and enjoy themselves, warmed my heart. Jakey got quite teary-eyed when it wasn't turning out just like he wanted. He didn't expect the colors not to stay where he put them and to have colors running together. I tried to explain it to him just how easy it would be to fix it and that I had painted many ceramics before I got quite good at it. He needed a few Mommy snuggles before he was ready to try his hand at it again. Jojo breezed through hers and even started on her second one (which I think upset Jakey a bit too).
It's so fun to be able to do these things with my kids. Veer off schedule, little surprises, and snuggles make this one Mommy whose enjoying her life and everyone in it!
