2:15 pm update...
Jason's company has moved just west of Baton Rouge, Louisiana now. He said they are definitely needed there because he hasn't seen anything with power. Lots of destruction has happened there. Just before he called I was watching CNN and the governor of Louisiana was on saying how disappointed he is that some residents will be without power for a month and that all the companies that have available lineman and women need to head down. There was no thanking the people that are already down there working their tails off to restore power as quickly as possible. No mention that some cities have already been restored thanks to the those men and women. And not to mention that there are 3 more storms that could possibly hit the U.S. I guess with Jason being in this line of work, I see things in a whole new light. I'd hate to have my family be without power for that long, but I understand that these storms take sacrifices from all walks of life. Sure I'd want my power back quickly so I can resume my normal life, but I'm not going to moan to everyone that I'm without. I understand now just how much work it takes to get things back to normal. I understand that men and women will have to spend many days, weeks, or months away from their families to get MY life back to normal. I understand that when it's my time to have my power restored, it will happen. And you can bet that I'll have something to eat or drink, or some kind words, for those men and women who have helped me out.

I remember when I was little and we would go visit Aunt Peg and Uncle Bill in Lockport, the fire siren would go off and my Uncle and cousins were part of the volunteer fire company. It didn't matter if it was Thanksgiving dinner or someones birthday celebration....they went tearing out of the house to either fight a fire or help someone having a heart attack or whatever the emergency was. You never knew how long they would be gone, but you always knew they were helping someone in distress and it was a comfort to know how dedicated they were. Jason is helping people in distress and I am very proud of him. Yes, you all are sacrificing so that others may be helped.
