11:32 am update...

Half of the crews (Jason included) are headed back to Lafayette, Louisiana right now. The other half of the crew is leaving tomorrow for Lafayette, this way they won't have 200+ trucks on the roads. Tomorrow morning they will start the drive to Houston, Texas. We are unsure how communication will be once he gets closer to the destruction, so he's given me a list of phone numbers of people on his crew. That's reassuring in case something arises back home and I need to get a hold of him. We are starting day 15 of him being gone and so far the kids are handling it very well. Jakey is the one that cries the most for him, especially if he's very tired. Last night after bowling as I'm putting him to bed, he starts crying that he really misses Daddy and the dogs! The dogs are home with us (Lexi is still in her cage, but she's here), so I asked him if he wanted Sabrina to sleep on his bed. That stopped the tears and the dog was thankful to be able to sleep on a bed. Within 5 minutes him and Sabrina were snoring, so a major breakdown was avoided. The kids are making a calendar for every day that Jason is gone, so each one gets to color in a square for each day that he's working. This way they have something to look forward to each night and we can keep track of the days. I think Jason might like how colorful the calendar will be when he finally does make it home.
