I feel like a woman...

Anyone that knows me, knows that my beauty routine is pretty plain jane. Moisturizer and chapstick is really the extent of my daily beauty routine. When Jojo first started cheerleading, my Mom had to teach me how to use mascara. Now on special occasions I'll add that along with some blush and foundation.
This year I've had to learn how to apply eyeliner to Jojo and how not to gouge her head with the many bobby pins required for certain hairstyles. So far so good on Jojo, I've yet to apply these new learned things on myself.
Here is a picture of her fake curly ponytail.

And here is a picture of her eyeliner.

I never thought I'd be one of those Moms putting make-up on my daughter at such a young age, and I did balk at it her first year of cheerleading. As the years have passed and I've seen their performances from the stands, I see that the make-up is a necessity. You can really see their eyes pop with the make-up on, it finishes the look. I'm glad our coach doesn't follow suit with some of the other teams competiting, their make-up is way too much. Glittery eyeshadow, tons of foundation, massive amounts of blush, and bright red lipstick. I think that is unnecessary in my book. Let the talent speak, not the make-up.

She is so pretty, Jess.

...and I think it's wonderful that you don't wear any makeup! Wonderful. I used to wear a ton of makeup to feel comfortable, but as I've gotten older, I've gotten more comfortable in my own skin and love a more natural look. It's a shame when women cake themselves with so much makeup.

I'm sure it's fun for Jojo and those girls to get all dolled up for the competitions! How special for them.
