Not that the definition helped her spell it correctly, but I still couldn't be more proud of her. She made it to the final 6, out of 18, and got stumped by this 8th grade word (she's only in 4th grade). She looked super nervous to me, but she kept her cool and made her family very proud.
I had a meeting with Jakey's teacher today because he is still having small issues with the bully (story here) and I wanted to nip anymore issues in the bud. I don't want my little man being afraid to go to school because of one kid, or any kids for that matter. I wasn't sure if this was just boys being boys, so I figured a trip to school was called for. I love, love, love Jakey's teacher, so I knew she would do all that she could to resolve this issue. She seems to think that this child is over stimulated when he gets to just run wild during playground zone (my kids school does zone recess - the children choose from 4 different zones with a supervisor in each one. This keeps most behavior issues at bay). So she's going to tell him that he can no longer attend this zone until his behavior and choices are better. She feels that him being more structured during recess will help curb the bad behavior and then he'll be rewarded with playground zone once he achieves the correct behavior. After our little talk, she gave me glowing reviews about Jakey. He's starting 1st grade readers, loves to interact with all the kids, always willing to help out his teacher and friends, and a joy to be around.
Talk about a good day for me and my kiddos. I couldn't be more blessed having these 2 little miracles in my life each and every day.

How exciting for Jojo!
That's interesting about their recess. Seems like a great idea...more structure and more supervision. I remember our recess way back when; just let the kids loose and run wild with ONE teacher supervising (barely) at the doors. It was like pure freedom/chaos. I sincerely hope this bully leaves Jakey alone.
