My day...

The day started off rough, really rough. Jason and I got into an argument, he left for work mad. The kids were sluggish this morning knowing that it was the last day of school before break. The boys I watch in the morning were especially loud and rambunctious. I had a chance to unwind before the little guy I watch came over and that helped immensely!
The rest of the day kept getting better, instead of worse - which was what I feared. Jason texted me an apology which brightened my mood instantly. The kids I watch were so much fun and really good. The new recipe from a friend made the whole house smell yummy and then I got a phone call. A phone call from school. It was Jakey's teacher. She starts off by saying that everything is fine but Jakey was in an altercation this afternoon on the playground. A boy in his class punched/pushed him and Jakey retaliated by pushing the kid back. This has always been a big fear of mine because Jakey gets mixed signals from Jason and I on this. Jason says "If you get hit, you better hit them back harder." I say "Turn away and go tell the supervisor." Maybe neither way is right, but I knew eventually it would happen. He's a boy and these things happen (from living with 2 younger brothers, I know this for a fact). The other boy was sent home but Jakey's punishment was a talk with the principal (who is a great guy and knows our family very well). Jakey was honest with what happened and from what his teacher said the principal really liked that he was straightforward with saying up front "yes I pushed him back". Jakey's teacher said he has a bit of a black eye, so we'll see exactly what happened when he gets home from school.
AHHHHH, the joys of boys!

Awe, poor Jakey! I bet it IS hard raising boys...because we are so different. Glad Jakey told the truth. Hope his eye isn't too bad.

...and I'm glad your day started looking up. Tomorrow is a new day. ;)
