Jason update...
The crews are in Meridian, Mississippi and just waiting to hear what their next plan of attack is. The rumor is that they will wait til Ike hits and then head to Texas. It may seem like a waste of money to have these crews sitting in a hotel room, getting paid for doing nothing, but it is pretty logical. The cost of driving 200+ trucks back to Dayton, OH only to have them turn around and drive at least that many trucks back to Texas, is probably more expensive. Not to mention more taxing on the lineman, groundsman, apprentices, and foremens to have to do all that driving. They are probably 24 hours away from Galveston, Texas right now, so they should be safe from Ike. Right now it looks like it will hit landfall as a Category 3 and is projected to hit the Texas Coast between Galveston and Corpus Christi. I feel sorry for the individuals living in Ike's path, but I'm also grateful that it's sparing the Louisiana coast and Jason doesn't have to go back down to the same spots and repair the same lines they just got done repairing.
