You broke my heart...

My Jakey can get a bit of an attitude when he doesn't get his way. He doesn't get this way for anyone but me. Aren't I lucky?!
Last night Jojo had her 2 girlfriends spend the night and she told Jakey that he could be downstairs with them for only a little bit. Once she'd had enough of him, she asked me to call him upstairs. Since I had to play the mean girl and break up the fun, I got the full blown attitude. He pesters me with questions that are full of attitude:
"Well, how come I can't be down there?"
"Jojo said I could be down there!"
After I gave him a warning about his attitude I asked if he wanted to watch a home movie of himself as a baby. His response:
"No, I want to watch a regular movie."
I got down to his level and looked him in the eye and said "Buddy, now we aren't watching any kind of movie and I'm done talking to you until you lose the attitude."
I walked outside to start putting away the pool things and picking up the yard. He joins me a few minutes later with a piece of paper, a pencil and a sad look. On the paper is written "You broke". He then gives me those sad little eyes and says "Carly helped me write this but I need you to help me spell my." I tell him the letters and then he adds a picture of a heart after the word my...You broke my heart.
I about started crying but when I looked at him, he beat me to it.
"How did I break your heart, buddy?"
"You yelled at me and told me you didn't want to talk to me. That broke my heart." he replied.
I told him that it broke my heart to hear him talk to me that way and that we have to stop breaking each others hearts like this. We hugged and then snuggled on the chair til he fell asleep on me.
I'm glad he let me know what he was thinking and feeling and I'm glad we were able to have that talk and end the night on a high note.
BTW...so far today, we haven't broken any hearts!!!
