Amazing little man...

I've always known that Jakey was a strong little man. He loves to walk around showing me his muscles, he's become the "man" of the house while Jason is away, and he's weathered his share of scrapes and cuts pretty well. Today was his 5 year well check and ya'll know that that means...shots. I waited til this morning at breakfast to tell him and he said "It's okay Mom, I'll be tough and brave." I was thinking that I'd have to bribe him or console him, something other than what he gave me (He was hospitalized just after he turned one with a nasty chest cold and since has really been fearful of people in white coats, can't say that I blame him!).
We chatted on the way to the doctor's and he even informed me, once we were in the exam room, that I should just sit in the chair, I didn't have to stand near him. After the doctor finished the exam, the nurses came in with their basket of shots. We laid him down and I had to hold his arms. He did grab my hand and simply raised his eyebrows as they administered the 4 shots. The nurse said "You can say OUCH buddy." He looked at her and said "Ouch." LOL He was rewarded with 5 suckers from the special stash. Next we had to run over to a different lab for some blood work and he asked "Will they pinch me again?" "Yes, buddy, but it will only hurt for a little bit." I replied. "It's okay Mom, I'll be brave again, it doesn't hurt too bad." he said (sounding much older than almost 5). He actually thought it was neat when they drew his blood and was again rewarded with a sucker.
I had to stop at the bank and you guessed it...they gave him a sucker too! I have a feeling he'll begin to think everywhere we go, he'll get sucker.
Thanks for being such a big boy buddy!

Way to go big guy!!!

Shots have never really bothered Sophia either. It's funny though about the suckers because they always try to give Sophia one at the Dr. and she always says "nooooo tankssss". ;) It makes me laugh every time.
