Winter blahs...

Yes I know the calendar says Spring but it certainly doesn't feel like it. Spring to me usually means opening the windows and airing the house out. Good-bye Germs! So far this year, we've only been able to open the windows a few times. And this is one year that we need the germs G-O-N-E! We've all had some type of illness this year and they are still lingering. I thought the sickies were all done but last night, they came out FULL FORCE.
We started the day with an Easter Egg hunt up in Luna Pier. For being such a small town, they sure do go all out for the kids. The fire station is transformed into a room full of hay and plastic eggs. They break the kids into age groups and away they go looking for colored treasure, since each egg if filled with candy. The Easter bunny made an appearance and the kids had a lot of fun. We went back to my Mom's and decided to dye and decorate some Easter eggs. WOW! Have I got some artistic kids (and Mom)! Keither ended up coming up to join in the festivities and got in on the decorating as well. Once I get some pics of the eggs, I'll be sure to post them. The weather was turning warm very quickly, so we headed outside - with NO jackets - to check out the beach. The kids had their shoes off, digging in the sand, tip toeing in the water, and finding rocks and shells. Keither decided to try his hand at hitting some seagulls with rocks and was unsuccessful, but he did bean a duck in the rear end with a rock that skipped along the water. It really wasn't funny, but it was like a bad car accident that I just couldn't stop looking at. It was just such fun being outside enjoying the sun, some family time, and some good conversation. We headed back inside and enjoyed some pizza that my step-dad had picked up. Of course the Final Four games were on, so the guys watched that while us girls chatted some more. My step-dad and I got into a heated discussion (I will never ask him if he's planning on selling stocks again! lol) and then I realized that it was almost 10 pm! The kids had to be up early for an Easter party at the yacht club the next morning. I made Jakey go to the bathroom since I knew he'd fall asleep on the ride home. He told me that his tummy hurt but he said it was because he had bad hiccups. I didn't think anything of it.
Jakey fell asleep on the ride home, so I got him inside and plopped him on the chair so that I could unload the car. As I'm taking off my shoes, he comes to me crying and saying "I threw...BLAH!" He continues to vomit on the kitchen floor, and continues and continues to vomit. Jason cannot stand the smell, so he stayed in the living room until I had Jakey naked and then he gave him a bath. I cleaned up the chair and kitchen and then got Jojo in bed. I decided to take Jakey upstairs with me in case he felt bad during the night. Just as my head hits the pillow, I hear Jojo yell "MOOOOOM" as she runs to the bathroom. Yep you guessed it, she's vomiting too. Luckily she's old enough and got everything in the toilet, so I quickly disinfected that, brushed her teeth, and got her back in bed. I go back upstairs and put my hand on Jakey's belly to check for any gurgling and I feel him start heaving. I had a bucket upstairs just in case, so I put his head over that. Back downstairs we go. We sit on the couch for a bit (after we've disinfected the toilet again and brushed teeth, again), then I head back upstairs. Not long after I give him tickles to fall asleep, he starts vomiting again. This time, I decide that we'll stay downstairs in the living room. This continued until 4 am. Even giving him some water made him loose his cookies. He finally falls asleep and stays asleep, so I close my eyes. It seemed like 5 minutes later and Jojo's in my face saying "I'm awake and really hungry." It was 8:15 already! I ask her to give me another hour and then we'll see if she's well enough to go to the yacht club. I fed her toast and yogurt and everything stayed down. I wasn't going to take Jakey because he was just too sick the night before to venture out to anywhere. He woke up just before Jojo and I were leaving, so I gave him 1/2 a piece of toast and some water. This too stayed down and I told him that Jojo and I would bring him back an Easter bag from the party. I guess while we were gone, Jason asked Jakey if he'd like something to eat and Jakey said "No thank you, I don't want to throw any of that up!" Poor guy.
Jojo had a lot of fun at the yacht club party. Erik, Katie and Landyn met us up there too and Jojo could really make Landyn smile and talk. It's amazing how fast he's growing. The kids got Easter bags full of candy and prizes, so they were happy campers. I was just glad that no one got sick.
Now can you see why I want Spring to really get here?! These sickies have over stayed their welcome and I'm ready to boot them out.
I'm going to do a "no-snow" dance now, why don't you join me!

Awe, vomiting is awful! I'm not looking forward to that part of parenthood. I hope you guys start to feel better. Let's just hope this weather tomorrow comes and goes - far, far, away for a long, long time! ;) I'm ready to open the windows and let Sopher's chunker legs hang out.

p.s. I had a word verification earlier today that said cankles. I laughed out loud.
