Portal to hell, really?!

I was watching Law & Order: Special Victims Unit last night and one of the detectives mentioned something about a portal to hell and the other detective said "No, that's Toledo." Now I wasn't even born in Toledo, but I've lived here most of my life. It's my husbands birthplace as well as our children. I don't like to think that the town I birthed them in is a portal to hell. Sure we have our problems in Toledo...high rate of crime, a growing budget deficit, high unemployment rate and many foreclosures. I like to think that Toledo is a city on the rise. We have a downtown that within a few weeks will be THE place to be. We'll have Mudhens games going on, which means people will be downtown for the game, families will go to a downtown restaurant before the game, and singles will be going clubbing after the game. We have an okay 4th of July fireworks display along the river. Our Art Museum is top-notch. The Zoo is fantastic, we've never had a bad time at the zoo. In the fall, the new Sports Arena will be opening and we'll be going downtown to root for the Walleyes (yes, that's the name of our hockey team now. Pretty pathetic if you ask me!). Toledo, to me, isn't really a bad place. I have 2 happy and healthy kids that enjoy all the activities that we do around town. My husband and I enjoy date nights around town. Toledo = family to me. Sure I might like to live on the beach in North Carolina, but this is where my family chose to put down roots and I'm very thankful that we did.

YAY!! I really like this post! YAY Toledo!! I am also a very proud, content citizen of lovely Toledo and have been born and raised... Wouldn't ask for anything more!! (However the beach living doesn't sound like too bad of an idea!) I am mad at Law & Order now for saying that!!

yeah I was surprised when I heard that too... I wonder why they made the reference to Toledo? I'm emailing NBC more out of curiosity than anything. I'll respond here if they get back to me with an answer.

I know this is really old post but maybe I can clarify. The Toledo he refers to in SVU is Toledo, Spain, not Ohio. It's from a book. That being said.... Toledo, Ohio is pretty low on my list of places to visit, sorry :)
